Hanging desert (Jordan, Wadi Rum)

In the Wadi Rum desert of Jordan , this natural sandstone arch rises more than 35 meters high. Formed by wind erosion and extreme temperature variations, it embodies the slow architecture of the wind.

This type of formation is called a rock bridge or natural arch , and can take several million years to form.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wadi Rum is home to several iconic arches, including Um Fruth , probably this one, renowned for its slender silhouette and accessible to climbers.
