Miror (Morocco, Chefchaouen)

Chefchaouen, medina side. From the dark interior of a café, a wall mirror hanging near the door reflects the exterior like a self-contained frame. The image is inverted but clear: an ancient arch , ochre walls , two women talking, a child at their feet. The essential point is played out there, in this isolated part of the world, where the mirror does not send the viewer back to himself, but projects him out of the interior space , towards the bright light of the street .

The contrast is total: bluish darkness inside , brightness of day outside. The eye is naturally caught by this reflection, more real than the scene itself , where the human, the building and the light come together without artifice. In Chefchaouen, color does not stop at the walls : it seeps into the reflections, the thresholds, the interstices.
