Chefchaouen , nicknamed the “blue city of Morocco,” owes its distinctive hue to a tradition introduced in the 1930s by the local Jewish community. According to some accounts, blue symbolized the sky, spirituality, or even a way to repel mosquitoes by imitating water.

Today, this omnipresent shade acts as a sensory filter: it soothes, guides, dissolves contours. In the heights of the Moroccan Rif , blue becomes a language, enveloping the alleys, objects and even the smallest decorative detail. Hanging curtains and handcrafted garlands contribute to this art of ambiance, between Berber hospitality and tourist attraction.

Chefchaouen remains an active center of textile production and hand weaving , notably of traditional Rif djellabas and plaids . These artisanal gestures, passed down from generation to generation, nourish the discreet vitality of its alleys.
