In Bali, children learn early on to imitate adult gestures and signs, especially those seen in the media or on social media. V-shaped fingers, horns, and winks are all globalized cultural borrowings that coexist with traditional games like gasing (spinning top), crab races, and kite building in the dry season.
Socialization through play remains essential in the rural areas of the island: children develop horizontal solidarity networks , often independent of school frameworks. Here, bamboo serves as shelter as much as a teaching material : it is on it that we learn to climb, to observe, to build.
This scene documents contemporary Balinese childhood , between local heritage and global hybridization , in an environment where community ties precede individual possessions .
