In the Wadi Rum desert, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dromedaries (Camelus dromedarius) have accompanied Bedouin communities across Jordan's arid expanses for centuries. Once capable of gulping down up to 100 liters of water in a single gulp , they now only absorb about 50 —a subtle but real sign of the fragile adaptation of a species built for extremes .

In Jordan, they are nicknamed "the miracle of God" , fascinated by their legendary ability to survive weeks without drinking , by their long eyelashes that filter the sand , and by their extraordinary endurance in transporting men, goods and knowledge. This name also pays homage to their forgotten role in human history: invisible builders of civilizations , companions of pilgrimages , tireless travelers of the seas of sand .

Woven blankets , embroidered saddles, and hand-crocheted muzzles bear witness to Bedouin know-how, but also to a contemporary textile hybridization: floral patterns, wax fabrics, or synthetic materials circulate in the markets of the Near East and are combined with the nomadic aesthetic. Wadi Rum itself, with its spectacular sandstone landscapes , has nourished the global imagination through cinema ( Lawrence of Arabia , The Martian , Dune ), reinforcing the mythical aura of this inhabited desert.
