Of gold and sand (Jordan, Wadi Rum)

In the morning light, the rock formations of Wadi Rum cast sharp shadows on the red sand. This Jordanian desert is composed of sandstone and granite , eroded by wind and time. The contrast between exposed and shaded areas accentuates the reading of geological faults and folds , recalling the tectonic origin of these plateaus. The whole forms a dry, stable and silent geography , marked by the alternation of rocks, dunes and mineral plains .
