Facing this half-moon bay, we can see the hills of Israel , on the other side of the mirror of water. A little further south, the Two Seas project attempts to connect the Red Sea to the Dead Sea, via a cross-border hydraulic and energy corridor. The objective: to slow the dramatic drying up of this closed basin, whose level is dropping by more than a meter per year .
This project, initiated between Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Authority , also aims to produce electricity via pumping and desalination stations. But it remains highly controversial: geopolitical issues, enormous cost (more than 10 billion dollars), and major environmental risks (salinity imbalance, weakened ecosystems, formation of sinkholes).
This image, seemingly motionless, is in reality charged with invisible tensions : borders, bilateral agreements, water strategies... Here, silence is political.
