Inner reflection (France, Gers)

This type of symmetrical reflection on still water is a common phenomenon on the hillside ponds of the Gers, where natural or agricultural reservoirs act like mirrors at dusk. These landscapes are part of an ancient tradition of gentle hydraulic management, inherited from the Middle Ages, which aimed to irrigate crops without diverting the main rivers.

The region has nearly 3,000 artificial bodies of water , many of which are part of family farms. But beyond their agricultural function, these bodies of water now play a crucial role in local biodiversity: they serve as a refuge for amphibians, a watering hole for deer, and a mirror for clouds.
