An iconic natural corridor in Jordan, the Siq is the monumental entrance to the ancient city of Petra , a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Approximately 1.2 km long, this red sandstone canyon was formed by a tectonic fault and then shaped by erosion over millennia. Its vertiginous walls, nearly 80 meters high, offer a spectacular palette of shades—from soft pink to deep ochre—revealed by the play of light.
A testament to Nabataean genius, an ancient canal carved into the rock runs discreetly alongside the passage, once carrying water to the heart of the city. Each step in this mineral parade resonates in an almost sacred silence, until the spectacular appearance of the Khazneh , the Treasury.
