In Japan , electrical infrastructure creates a technical landscape that is often absent from tourist stories. Yet, more than 60% of Japanese electricity still comes from fossil fuels (natural gas, coal, oil). Since the Fukushima disaster in 2011, nuclear power—previously dominant—has been partially put on standby, increasing the archipelago's energy dependence .

This web of cables, high-voltage pylons , metal bridges , and industrial structures reveals a less idealized side of the country. In large urban areas like Nagoya , the industrial and port heartland, this tension between the natural landscape and the dense electricity grid becomes visible, almost graphic.

Here, the golden light of a sunset embraces the brutality of the lines, exposing the precarious balance between aesthetics and necessity.
