Vaults of light (France, Chartres)

From April to the end of December, the Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral , an emblem of French Gothic art , is transformed every evening into a monumental screen during the Chartres en Lumières festival. Its western façade becomes the setting for spectacular projections that reinterpret, in light, its sculpted arches and columns.

In this image, video mapping reveals architectural lines in a luminous mesh evoking the celestial vault. This technology, designed to match the reliefs of medieval stone, highlights volumes invisible during the day. The contrast between 13th-century sacred art and current digital creation makes this lighting a bridge between memory and innovation.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site , the cathedral thus becomes a place of convergence between tradition, visual arts and living heritage.
